The Portsmouth City School District Board of Education is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Superintendent. The Superintendent will replace Mr. Scott Dutey who retired in September 2023.
In addition to providing leadership for all programs and operations, the board is seeking an individual who will serve as a model of professionalism and is capable of articulating and achieving the district’s educational mission and vision. The search for a new Superintendent is being conducted by Mrs. Sandy Mers, Superintendent of the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center.
The Portsmouth City Superintendent is the chief executive officer of the school district. It is his or her responsibility to advise board members on administrative matters, execute policies and decisions made by the board, and operate the district efficiently and effectively. The Superintendent works collaboratively with the Treasurer, other key administrators, staff, community and the Board of Education.
