Good afternoon Trojan Family,
A little after two o'clock today we had an accidental situation with a staff member accidentally sending out a lockdown alert. The situation was taken seriously district-wide with our buildings going into lockdown. Within a matter of minutes, our school resource officer determined that the lockdown alert was initiated by accident and that Portsmouth City Schools did not have any active threats.
We apologize to all for this accidental event, and we are also pleased with staff, administration, SRO's, and students taking the situation seriously out of precaution.
Again, the Portsmouth City School District did not have an active threat situation this afternoon just past 2 p.m.
